Location of Delhi is such that a major part of the city falls on the western side of the Yamuna River. Apart from Yamuna, which is the main river of the city, there are 3 canals, Agra Canal, Hindou Canal and western Yamuna Canal.
Weather
Delhi's weather largely depends on the geographical location of the city. Weather in Delhi varies with the five seasons- summers, monsoon, autumns, winter and spring. During the summer months, Delhi is very unpleasant and very hot. Summers are quite long and stretch from April to October and the monsoon rains start with the advent of July that last till August. Best visiting time of Delhi is between October and February. According to weather Forecasts, the average temperature during the daytime of that period goes unto 22C whereas the evenings become very pleasant and cool.
Airports
International Airport of Delhi, popularly known as Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is located 24 kilometers south of New Delhi. It is a two-terminal airport with major Airlines from across the world having flights to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport. Out of the two terminals, one is the Domestic Terminal some 3 kilometers away from the International Terminal.
Rail Junction
Delhi Junction, also known as Old Delhi Railway Station, station code DLI, is the oldest railway station of Delhi city and it was built by the British in the style of red-coloured fort, before independence. This has been an important railway station of the country as well, and complements the New Delhi Railway Station. It is served by the Chandni Chowk Metro Station.
Transport
Public transport in Delhi are buses, auto rickshaws and a metro rail system. Here, Buses are the most popular means of transport catering to about 60% of the total demand. State-owned Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is a major bus service provider and the DTC operates the world's largest fleet of environment-friendly CNG buses. The Delhi Metro, a mass rapid transit system built and operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
You will see Auto rickshaws in delhi which are popular means of public transportation in Delhi, as they charge a lower fare than taxis. Most run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and are yellow and green in colour. Taxis are not an integral part of Delhi public transport, though they are easily available.
