Ancient name of Chhattisgarh state is Southern Kosal. It is situated in the heart place of India's & Madhyapradesh's south eastern portion. It includs sixteen districts like Bilaspur, Raigarh, Sarguja, Raipur, Durg, Korea, Korba, Dantewada, Mahasamunda,Kavardha,Champa,Janjgir, Jashpurnagar,Kanker, Dhamtari, Rajnandgaon & Bastar. Chattishgar is surrounded by mountain's series of Mekal, Sihava & Ramgiri. Its holyland is irregated by Mahanadi, Shivnath, Indravati, Hasdo & Kharun river. From historical point of view, Chhattisgarh state is so rich & from traditional point of view it is always a place of central attraction.

The Geographical differences of Chhattisgarh makes people's civilization more colourful and attractive. By this its natural brilliance is innaugrated by its excellent, wonderful,curious, people life, aboriginal & modern life system. Its history, archaeology, art, culture, religious places, natural sophistication, forest life & industries etc. are flower of vision. Chhattisgarh is a land of opportunitie and it is the richest state in mineral resources with all major minerals including diamonds available in abundance. Major industries in steel, aluminium and cement are present in the state. Chhattisgarh contributes substantially to the economy and human resources of the country.

Major crops produced in the state are rice, sugarcane, banana, pulses, and wheat. Moreover, the forest products that are produced are teak, sal, bamboo, sheeshal, mahua, tamarind, haldu, saja, sheesham, and various herbs. It is known as "Dakshin Kosal" in ancient times, It has several unique features as well such as abundant natural resources, rich biodiversity, and rich cultural diversity. With all major minerals including diamonds in abundance, this is the richest State in mineral resources. Chhattisgarh takes its name from 36 (Chattis is thirty-six in Hindi and Garh is Fort) princely states in this region from very old times. It borders Madhya Pradesh on the northwest, Maharashtra on the west, Andhra Pradesh on the south, Orissa on the east, Jharkhand on the northeast and Uttar Pradesh on the north.

Location:-
Chhattisgarh is bordered by Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in the north, Andhra Pradesh in the south, Orissa in the east and Madhya Pradesh in the west. The state lies at 17°46' N to 24°5'N latitude and 80°15' E to 84°20' E longitude.

Weather:-
Chhattisgarh comes under the hot Torrid Zone. And probably that’s why the state observes tropical type of climate. Though weather varies from region to region, it’s warm in most of the places. Like any other part of India, Chhattisgarh enjoys three seasons, summers, winters, and monsoons. During summers (April-June), the temperature sometimes goes up to 45°C (max) whereas the sun shines brightly over heads.

In the month of June, Monsoons (July-September) arrive in the state as a respite from the scorching heat. Chhattisgarh receives pretty decent amount of rainfall with an average of 1292mm. In October, cool breeze envelops the entire state as if heralding the arrival of winters. Winter season (November-February) doesn’t necessarily mean wearing loads of woolens in Chhattisgarh. At the time, the temperature even drops down to 10°C. Light woolens are usually enough to deal with winters in the state, however, heavy woolens are required in hilly areas otherwise, light cotton clothing is best for most of the time. Seeing the weather conditions, the months from October to March offers the best time to visit this amazing state.

Airport:-
Chhattisgarh airlines operate from the domestic airport at Raipur, which is the capital of the state. Chhattisgarh was created by the division of Madhya Pradesh and the hitherto largest state in India. Numerous flights operate from this domestic aerodrome to distant locations in India, like the national capital, New Delhi, the financial capital, Mumbai, Chennai, Ranchi, Ahmedabad etc. You will find several airline companies, which operate flights from Raipur. Indian Airlines, presently called ‘Indian’, Air Deccan etc. ‘Indian’ also operates flights to Nagpur, close by. Jet Airways also operates flights from Raipur.

Domestic airport at Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh has recently been renovated to accommodate more flights. The runway was extended to more than six thousand feet to accommodate medium-body aircraft. The Chhattisgarh airlines are offering new opportunities to explore the scenic beauty of the state as well as exploration of new business opportunities here.

Rail junction:-
It’s net railway track length exceeds 1300 km. The two principal railway junctions of Chhattisgarh are housed at Raipur and Bilaspur. Durg, Rajgarh, Rajnandgaon and Korba are the other noted Chhattisgarh railways stations in the state. Korba Railway Station, under the jurisdiction of the South East Central Railways is located in the town’s epicenter. The Bilaspur Junction Railway Station is sited a mere 100 km away, while Gevra Road Railway Station and the Champa Railway Station are the other terminals located in the vicinity.

Transport:-
Jagdalpur is the district head quarters of Bastar district, which is well connected by roads to all important cities and towns of the state and near by states as well. It is connected to the state capital , Raipur in the north by the National Highway ( NH - 49 ) and the distance is approximately 300 k.m and the same NH - 49 extends up to Vishakhapatnam in the east, the famous port city of Andhra Pradesh and the distance from Jagdalpur is 300 k.m approx.
